Promotion Policy For Chicago Public Schools Based On The ITBS And Additional Factors
In addition, the following ranges are acceptable, the attainment of which, in conjunction with other factors, will result in promotion of students at the benchmark grades:
Grade 3: 24th to 34th Percentile
Grade 6: 24th to 34th Percentile
Grade 8: 24th to 34th Percentile
Additional Factors That Must Be Present
-Classroom grades of "B" or above in reading and mathematics.
-Passing Scores on Reading and Mathematics unit tests.
-An attendance rate of 90% or better.
-Conduct ( no repeated serious discipline code violations: Groups 3, 4, 5, or 6)
-Consistent completion of homework assignments.
In addition to the current ITBS score, other measures which may be used to demonstrate competencies in math and reading are:
- Evaluation of the student's score on the ISAT or on any other State-sanctioned assessment which demonstrates competency in reading and mathematics at the appropriate grade level.
- Evaluation of the student's prior-year score on the ITBS.
