                 Taking Care of Nightingale School

Mr.Allison

Arrive at 5:15 am on any morning and chances are you will run into Chief Building Engineer Mr. Allison or Mr. Kennedy. He and his staff work very hard to take care of our school and keep it running smoothly. While the rest of us are on vacation the crew are here almost every day unnoticed.

"It is our goal to keep the school neat, clean and in good repair. We want Nightingale to remain a healthy environment for the students. Schools that are dirty or poorly taken care of interfere with the students' education and reflect badly on the school and the neighborhood."

Taking care of the physical plant includes the day-to-day maintenance, cleaning, repairing and running the building and all the classrooms inside. They make sure there is heat in the winter, the electricity is on and the washrooms are working. When there is a problem Mr. Allison or Mr. Kennedy will either fix it or contact those who need to resolve the problem.

Mr. Allison is especially aware of the effect that his staff can have on the education of our children. He tries very hard to ensure that his staff do nothing to unnecessarily interrupt the students' day while still taking care of needed repairs. Anything that needs to be fixed is taken care of either before class starts or after the students leave.
